Now your Network dialog box should contain both the Dial-Up Adapter and TCP/IP. If you're not on a Local Area Network (LAN), only the Dial-Up Adapter and TCP/IP should be present. Remove any others. If you are on a LAN, ask your system administrator which components you need and remove any that you don't.

Press the OK button, and press OK again in the Network dialog box. Windows 95 will ask you to reboot, press Yes.
This first thing the wizard will ask you to do is enter a name for the connection. A good choice would be Internet Nebraska, so type it in the blank.

Your modem should be shown in the Select a modem area. (It should have been installed when you installed Windows 95.) Press the configure button to get another dialog box.

In the general section, set your modem speed as fast as your modem can go. If you have a 14.4kbps modem, set it to 57600m if you have a 28.8kbps modem, set it to 115200. Otherwise, set it to your modem's speed. Click the OK button to continue to the next section, which will look like this:

You don't need to enter the area code if it's a local call, and enter 434-6910 for the phone number. If you need to dial any special codes (such as to disable call waiting or to get an outside line) enter the code before the phone number, followed by a comma, like this: 70#,434-6910.
Press the Finish button, and you will have created an Internet Nebraska icon in the Dial-Up Networking folder. You may wish to create a shortcut to it on your desktop for easier access.
Press the Server Type button. In the Type of Dial-Up Server section, choose PPP. Make sure that Log on to Network is not checked in the Advanced Options section. In the allowed protocols section, make sure that TCP/IP is checked, and make sure that IPX/SPX and NetBEUI are not.

When completed, press the TCP/IP Settings button.
In the resulting dialog box (shown below), choose Server Assigned IP Address. Also choose Specify Nameserver Address, and enter 199.184.119.1 for the Primary DNS, and 199.2.252.10 for the secondary DNS. Leave the WINS servers as 0.0.0.0, and make sure both Use IP header compression and Use default gateway are checked. Press the OK button.

Press OK in the two remaining dialog boxes. Just one more step and we're ready to dial.
Double-click the Internet Nebraska icon that you now have.

Enter your password in the Password blank.
The configuration in now complete, press Connect to connect to Internet Nebraska.

Once connected, minimize the "Connected to Internet Nebraska" box, and start Internet Explorer, Netscape, or any other Internet Software.
When finished, pull the "Connected to Internet" box back up, and choose Disconnect. This will disconnect you from Internet Nebraska and hang up your modem.
