*** Sunday Morning Down-time ***
There will be a short down-time Sunday morning as our core router is
replaced. This will affect Internet connectivity for all of
our customers, including dedicated customers. The down-time will begin
at 2:00AM CST, and should last no longer than 10 minutes. We will also
be upgrading the authentication server Sunday morning. The upgrade will
happen after the router replacement, and will cause a short (5-10 minute)
downtime affecting only dial-in customers.
*** Electronic Funds Transfer Now Available ***
Dear IN Subscribers,
In order to provide a more convenient payment option and to increase our
operational efficiency, Internet Nebraska now offers a Direct Payment Plan. A
full explanation of the plan is appended, but in simple terms, your payments
are made automatically via an electronic debit to your checking account. You
receive statements of all charges and remain in complete control of your
payments and checking account.
We hope that you will switch to the Direct Payment Plan because our processing
costs for direct payments are less than for paper checks and much less than for
credit cards. To encourage customers to enroll, we would like to pass these
savings on to you. For customers who enroll in the Direct Payment Plan before
February 28, 1998, we are offering a $5 non-transferable credit that can be
applied against Internet Nebraska charges. To earn the credit, just print out
the enrollment form and then complete and return it with a VOIDed check.
Thank you for helping to make it simple and easy.

Internet Nebraska
Direct Payment Plan
-------------------
What is Direct Payment?
Internet Nebraska offers a Direct Payment Plan. The US Federal Reserve
describes direct payment in its Consumer's Guide publication:
Direct payment is an efficient electronic payment alternative
to paper checks. Instead of writing a check, your bank will
automatically make the payment on a predetermined date. It's
that simple.
Why use Direct Payment?
Direct payment is easier and reduces costs. The US Federal Reserve
writes:
Consumers save time preparing payments, save money on postage
and check fees, improve their budgeting, eliminate the chance
of late payment, and save time balancing their bank statement.
Direct payment also reduces our operating costs. Direct payment costs less
than processing a paper check or credit-card debit. This enables us to
continue to offer high-quality services at low prices.
Does the customer retain control of payments?
With our Direct Payment Plan, you remain in full control of your account and
payments. Internet Nebraska provides you notice of all charges. With direct
payment you can hold or stop a transfer with timely notice to your financial
institution, you retain complete control over the reversal process, and you can
revoke the authorization at any time. Customer satisfaction is a high priority
at Internet Nebraska --- we are members of the Better Business Bureau and you
have our personal guarantee that we work to resolve all problems, including
billing problems, to our customers' satisfaction.
How do I enroll?
To enroll in the Direct Payment Plan, simply complete and return the following
enrollment form. Please include a VOIDed check from your account to confirm
routing code information.
If you have questions about Internet Nebraska's Direct Payment Plan, please
send email to "accounts@inetnebr.com" or phone (402) 434-8680 (Lincoln) or
(402) 592-1110 (Omaha).

*** Congresscritters Hard At Work ***
The Nebraska Unicameral is back in legislative session, and you can follow all
its happenings by visiting the address: http://www.unicam.state.ne.us
You'll find everything you need to know regarding what's going on, who's doing
it, where and when it's done, and how to contact any of the principles. For
example, the Livestock Waste Management Act and capital gains income tax
provisions are scheduled to be discussed by the Natural Resources and Revenue
Committees today. Too many bills are at too many stages of the legislative
process to describe here, but they're all listed on this site.
Even when the Legislature isn't in session, this page is a great wealth of
important information. Statutes, the state Constitution, and the e-mail
addresses of senators are just a few of the goodies you'll find on the
Nebraska Unicameral Web site.
*** Meet the Inbox Assistant ***
A useful feature of Internet Mail (the e-mail program that is built into the
Internet Explorer) is the Inbox Assistant. The Inbox Assistant can sort your
incoming mail into various customizable folders, or send unwanted mail directly
into the trash. It's helpful, easy to use and you don't have to send it
flowers on Secretary's Day.
Use of the Inbox Assistant is probably best illustrated by an example. Let's
say you want all incoming mail from your ex-spouse to go directly into your
Deleted Items folder.
From within the Internet Mail program, click Mail, click Inbox Assistant, then
click Add. On the Properties screen, fill in the necessary criteria. In our
example, we need only type in the email address of your ex-spouse in the
"From:" field. Under "Perform the following action", click the arrow on the
right side to display a list of folders. Select Deleted Items. Then click OK.
You will now see a description of what the Inbox Assistant will do with any
mail sent from the specified address. It will look something like this:
Move to "Deleted Items" if From contains "trash@trailerpark.com"
Of course, sending mail to the "Deleted Items" folder is not your only option.
In the event of a reconciliation, you may want to create a new folder for your
Ex's mail (by clicking File/Folder/Create, from within the Internet Mail
program), and sending his or her mail there.
You can add as many sets of rules for sorting mail as you like. The rules can
be temporarily deactivated by removing the check mark in front of them, or
removed altogether by highlighting and clicking Remove.
The Inbox Assistant can also be used for deleting unwanted spam or junk mail.
In the Inbox Assistant Properties window, enter a word commonly used in spam
subject headings (e.g. "money" or "sex"), and have the Inbox Assistant move
mail containing that word in the subject line to your Deleted Items folder as
explained above.
*** Advertise on Our Home Pages ***
What better way to advertise your business than on a Web page that is seen tens
of thousands of time every month? None, if you're paying as little as we
charge for it! Give Doug Maitland a call at our office, 434-8680, and ask him
how you can reserve banner spots on some of the hottest URL's in the state,
including our new search, kids, news, and restaurant pages. The following
businesses did, and we recommend them heartily.
